Do you wish to teach others how to save lives? Do you consider yourself a dynamic and engaging person? Are you willing to share your skills and guide others to an understanding of CPR? Perhaps you would be a perfect candidate for our American Heart Association Instructor Course.

This is a two-part course, in which attendance is mandatory at both sessions. Instructor Candidates are assumed to have mastered the cognitive subject matter and skill needed to teach BLS. Participants should be prepared to demonstrate CPR, AED or FBAO skills for Adults, Children, or Infants at various times during the course. Class time will be spent on HOW to teach rather than on WHAT to teach. Participants will be asked to prepare a 5-minute presentation on an assigned topic. Participants will do a teaching demonstration to the class during the second session.

All participants will be expected to score at least 84% on a 50 question written examination and satisfactorily demonstrate BLS psychomotor performance guidelines. The written exam will include materials covered in this course and in the instructor’s manual. Upon successful completion of this course, each candidate will be expected to present instructional material effectively, diagnose and correct faulty technique in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and management of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO) and consistently and fairly evaluate and encourage basic provider candidates. Each participant will be eligible for a course completion card as an instructor after he or she has successfully completed this course and has been monitored by a region-designated monitor while teaching at least one course.

The cost of the course is $275, with a $50 additional fee for monitoring. If you are interested in participating in this course and becoming an American Heart Association Instructor, please give Health Quest a call today! We will gladly answer any questions you may have, and register you for the course if you do decide to participate.
